Wallpaper instructions
With these ELLIE Studio instructions, you will have your wall wallpapered smoothly and without bubbles in no time! Because our strips are pre-printed, you don't have to puzzle over patterns. The strips line up perfectly. Unsure about the number of rolls you need or do you have any questions? Feel free to email us and we will help you.
Step 1. Prepare
What do you need?
Wallpaper paste (e.g. Perfax Ready)&Roll), wallpaper roller (or wall paint roller), wallpaper spatula, bucket with warm water and a clean cloth, sharp utility knife, scissors and a spirit level or laser.
Preparation of the wall:
- Ensure the wall is flat, clean, dry, and grease-free.
- Fill holes, sand smooth, and remove old wallpaper
- For highly absorbent walls such as new plaster or drywall, first use a primer or undercoat.
- Ordered dark wallpaper? Paint the wall in a similar color beforehand to prevent white seams.
- Ordered light wallpaper? Make sure the surface is also light in color. A dark layer of paint or a color difference can show through the wallpaper, especially with light or thinner types.
The smoother the surface, the more beautiful the end result.
Step 2. Cut and prepare
- Cut the strips to size and lay them out in the correct order.
- Pay close attention to what the top and bottom are
- Important: the second row and every subsequent even row must always be rotated 180 degrees. This ensures the pattern aligns perfectly.
- Roll up the strips so that you have the top side in your hands immediately when pasting.
Step 3. Glue and paste
- Draw a perpendicular line.
Use a spirit level or laser to draw a straight vertical line on the wall. This is essential. If the first strip hangs crookedly, the pattern will never continue seamlessly later on. - Apply a thin layer of wallpaper paste to a section of the wall – approximately 50–60 cm wide. Use a roller and ensure that corners and edges are also well covered with paste.
- Stick the first strip tightly against the plumb line and work from top to bottom. Press the strip smooth with a wallpaper spatula and push excess glue to the sides. Trim away excess paper at the top and bottom.
- Place the following strips butt-to-butt, without overlap. Check periodically to ensure the pattern continues neatly and the strips remain straight.
- Remove excess glue immediately with a slightly damp cloth for a sleek and seamless finish.
Step 4. Let dry
Let the wallpaper dry thoroughly and remove any glue residue immediately with a damp, soft cloth.

Tips and tricks for the best results
- Check the wallpaper for printing errors before you start. Do you see anything? Contact us. As long as the wallpaper has not yet been applied, we will send new rolls immediately.
Once again: check the wallpaper beforehand. This is to prevent you from having to re-paste everything. Once you have applied the wallpaper, we will no longer handle complaints.
- Preferably work with two people. One pastes, the other holds the strip taut and checks the pattern.
- Dark wallpaper on a light wall? Paint the wall in a similar shade first to prevent white seams.
- Light wallpaper on a dark wall? First give the wall a light, even color to prevent show-through.
- For the best result, the wall should be a uniform color.
- Wallpapering over fiberglass? Apply a coat of wall paint first for better adhesion.
- Always use a sharp knife to prevent frayed edges.
- Save a leftover piece of wallpaper for later, handy for small repairs.
Veelgestelde vragen over behang
